We have some incredible news to share… we will be creating a few new artisan programs where we currently have feeding programs this year! Can you believe it? Neither can we!
When Ila Joi began we wanted to empower women to work so they are able to care for their children. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, it has been plagued with starvation and is almost impossible for many people in villages to hold jobs and care for their families. These conditions force women to give their children up, so their children do not die of starvation. Luckily, Ila Joi is combating this problem one artisan program at a time. With the purchases of jewelry, the ladies are able to put food in their children’s bellies and they are even able to send them to school.
The long-term effects of the artisan programs are innumerable; however, we need YOUR help starting them up! How can you help? You can help in a number of ways: We need donations of paper cutters, scissors and Elmer’s glue. These donations allow us to use other monetary donations for training, transportation and other startup costs. These simple donations can help keep families together and allow children to have food in their bellies and be able to receive an education. You can also sponsor the artisan program. $60 would help with training costs as well as food for the artisans for the entire training day. More than anything we need your prayers. We need encouragement while we are embarking on this journey. We need prayers for the ladies and for their families. Without God, we know that none of this would be possible.
